In this week’s hospitality class, I made lamb and mango curry. This was my first time making curry without using curry roux, and I was impressed by cooking it with a pressure cooker. Adding the mango right before finishing surprised me. Also, we used Thai rice. I felt a strong taste of fruit, but it was tasty. While we were cooking, a student noticed me washing dishes, and he was willing to wipe the tools that I had finished washing, so I was happy. I felt it was awesome that he could casually show consideration. In addition, I heard about activities to recognize diversity. I heard that students draw portraits and have the opportunity to talk about their birthplace. On Thursday, I took kindergarten and primary school classes. At the kindergarten, they learned greetings such as Konnichiwa and Konbanwa and were drawing pictures based on those words. There was also a picture book read about a monk and a tanuki. At the primary school, they were researching Japanese food and watching a video about candy making and a video about wasabi farmers’ stories. In this class, I watched students who were researching sushi and mochi. I felt it was a good opportunity to learn about other countries’ cultures since they are young. Recently, Leo has been practicing driving a car. I heard that when they become year 11, they start to get a car license. I think it’s amazing that students younger than me can drive a car. I hear that everyone around me has exams, so they study during recess. I’d like to do my best too.
