4月13日からスクールホリデーなので、4月12日が最後の登校日でした。その日、カラーランが学校で行われました。生徒たちは色しぶきで覆われた障害物コースを走ったり、歩いたり、スキップしたりしていました。たくさんの小中学生やその先生が楽しんでいて、彼らを見ているだけでとても楽しかったです。日本の高校ではそのようなイベントはありません。なので私の学校でもそのようなイベントがあったらいいと思いました。ソーセージサンドイッチやケーキを売る屋台がありましたが、どれも安くて美味しかったです。お世話になったBDCの先生たちと最後の写真を撮ることができて嬉しかったです。
土曜日、私はホストマザーと一緒にリバーユースフェストに参加しました。このイベントは、私が住んでいるベリンゲンの川の近くで開催されました。多くの家族や地元住民がその場所を訪れ、いくつかの木を植えました。私は彼らが町の環境を本当に大切にしていると感じました。私はそれをとても尊敬しています。私は実際にいくつかの木を植えました。植えた木がいつか大きく育った姿を見たいと思いました。環境保護の仕事を手伝うことができて嬉しかったです。また、土曜日には、野生のコアラが森にかえされるのを見ました。私のホストの父の友人は、野生のコアラの健康をチェックするために働いています。彼らはスキーをするために何度か日本に来たことがあり、私は彼らが私よりも日本の様々な地域を訪れたことに驚きました。私は野生のコアラを見たことがありませんでした、なので私はそれを間近で見ることができてとても嬉しかったです。そのコアラは少し小さかったです。特別なシーンに立ち会えて、とても感銘を受けました。
It’s a school holiday from April 13th, so April 12th was the last school day. That day, the colour run was held at school. Students ran, walked, and skipped through an obstacle course covered in splashes of color. There were a lot of primary and junior high school students and their teachers having fun, and it was a lot of fun just watching them. There are no such events in Japanese high schools. So I want to such events at my school. There were stalls selling sausage sandwiches and cakes, all of which were cheap and delicious. I was happy to be able to take a final photo with the BDC teachers who had been so kind to me.
On Saturday, I participated in River Youth Fest with my host mother. The event was held near the river in Bellingen, where I live. Many families and local residents visited the place and they planted some trees. I felt that they really valued the environment of their town. I respect that very much. I actually planted some trees. I want to see the tree I planted grow big someday. I was happy to be able to help with the work of protecting the environment.
Also on Saturday, I watched as wild koalas were released back into the forest. My host father’s friend is working to check the health of wild koalas. They came to Japan several times to ski. I was surprised that they have visited various parts of Japan more than I have. I have never seen a wild koala. So I was very happy to see it up close. That koala was a little small. I was very impressed to be able to witness the special scene.
