活動報告

先週の日曜日は友達とライリー君のおじいさんの農場へ行きました。今は牛の赤ちゃんが生まれる時期で沢山の子牛がいてとてもかわいかったです。農場がとても広いのでライリー君友達と一緒にアーチェリーをしました。自分が想像していたより、的を狙うのが難しく、弓を引き、弦を上手に放すには腕の力や体幹が必要で思っていたより体力を使いました。友達と楽しく1日過ごせて良かったです。学校では埼玉にある蕨高等学校から28名の短期留学生が来ています。みんなで小学生の日本語の授業に参加して折り紙をしました。折り紙を英語で説明するのは難しかったですが、協力し合って無事完成することができて良かったです。金曜日には蕨高校の生徒とBDCの生徒でパドルボーディングをしました。パドルボーディングとはサークボードの上に立ち一本のパドルで左右交互にして漕ぎます。競争ではみんな大きな声で応援し合って盛り上がりました。ランチはカンガルーのソーセージを食べました。味は普段食べているソーセージとは違い独特のクセがあり不思議な味がしました。またランチの時間に蕨高校の生徒とお互いの高校について話をしました。上田西高校は(サッカーが強い高校なんだよね)や(高校一年生で留学させてくれる制度があるなんて羨ましい)など上田西高校の事を褒めていただきとても誇らしかったです。長野県に自分のおじいさんの家や親戚の家があるという生徒もいて親近感を覚えました。午後はクリケットをしました。クリケットとは11人で１チームを作り、攻撃と守備と1イニングずつ交互に行い総得点の多い方が勝ちとなる競技で野球と似ていました。オーストラリアでは国民的スポーツで人気がありこの日も白熱した戦いとなり楽しかったです。今回で最後のレポートとなります。僕は最初の海外で最初は戸惑う事が多かったけど、オーストラリアの友達やフォストファミリーに助けられて充実した日々を過ごす事ができました。日本に帰ってもこの経験を次に活かせるように頑張りたいと思います。本当にありがとうございました。

Last Sunday, my friend and I went to Riley’s grandfather’s farm. It was the time when baby cows were born and there were so many calves, so cute. The farm is very large, so I played archery with Riley’s friend. Aiming at the target was more difficult than I had imagined, and I needed more strength in my arms and trunk to pull the bow and release the bowstring. It was nice to spend the day with my friends. At school, there are 28 short-term exchange students from Warabi High School in Saitama. We all participated in a Japanese class for elementary school students and did origami. It was difficult to explain origami in English, but I’m glad that we were able to work together and complete it successfully. On Friday, Warabi High School students and BDC students went paddleboarding. Paddleboarding is standing on a surfboard and rowing alternately left and right with a single paddle. In the competition, everyone cheered each other loudly and had a blast. I ate kangaroo sausage for lunch. The taste was different from the sausages I usually eat, and it had a unique peculiarity and a strange taste. During lunch time, I talked with the students of Warabi High School about each other’s high schools. Ueda Nishi High School is a high school where soccer is strong, isn’t it? I felt a sense of closeness to the students who had their own grandfather’s house and relatives’ house in Nagano Prefecture. I played cricket in the afternoon. Cricket is a game in which 11 players make up a team and alternate between offense and defense for one inning, and the team with the most total points wins, similar to baseball. In Australia, it is a popular national sport, and it was a fun day with a heated battle. This is the final report. It was my first time abroad and I was confused at first, but I was able to spend fulfilling days with the help of my Australian friends and host family. I would like to do my best so that I can make use of this experience even after I return to Japan. I’m really thankful.
