学校：Bishop Druitt College（オーストラリア）

期間：２月１日～４月２７日

二週間前にBDCは秋休みに入り、休み中はサーフィン、カヤック、テニスなど主にスポーツを沢山してきました。そして、平日許可をもらった時は、ホストファミリーの家の敷地内でバイクの練習をしたり、バスケをしたりしました。モーターバイクはいままで乗ったことがなく、最初はとても怖かったけど、長い時間乗っている間にコツや感覚を覚えてきて、少し楽しめるようになりました。ギアを綺麗に変えられるようになった時は、とても嬉しかったです。サイズは少し小さめで、初心者の僕にピッタリの乗り物でした。また、バイクに乗る中で、なんで日本の大人はバイクをあんまり勧めてこないのか、少し分かるようになりました。時々雨が降って湿気っている時などは、道が舗装されていないのもあってスリップをよく起こしたり、止まりたくても急に止まれなかったり、危険な場面が何回かありました。これを一般乗用車と走行して、車と衝突したことを思い浮かべると、凄く危険なことなんだと思い知らされました。今回の場合、ホストファミリーの敷地内はとても広いため、安全に、人を気にすることなく楽しめました。大人になって、敷地を広く持てたらまたバイクに乗りたいなと思いました。日本に帰ったら、しばらく乗れなくなるので、残りの二週間楽しんでいきたいです。

Fall break of BDC started two weeks ago. I have done a lot of things in break. Mostly, I played sports. For instance, surfing, kayaking and playing tennis. When my host family allowed me to ride on the motorbike, I practiced riding on it. Also if there was nothing to do, I played basketball. I have had never rode a motorbike so, I was scared of it at the first. As I rode it, I learned the feeling of riding it. I enjoyed it more than before. I was glad because I could gear up quickly. The size of the bike is little small but it suits me because I am a beginner. I got used to it and then I understood why Japanese adults don’t recommend riding bikes. When the grass was damp after raining and I didn’t drive on the road, I sometimes slipped. Also, it was hard to slow down. There were dangerous situations few times. I imagined riding on bike beside a car and clashing with it. I was reminded it is very dangerous to ride on a bike. My host family’s property is very large so, I don’t need to worry about other people. I enjoyed it a lot. If I get a large property when I become an adult, I would like to ride on a motorbike again. I won’t be able to do it when I go back to Japan so, I am going to enjoy these two weeks.
