I have studied English for a month since I came to Australia. I have gotten used to school life in Australia. The Australian classes that I have is different from Japanese ones. We mostly finish our the work the teacher gives us but we talk about things in the class so, some of work is done as homework by students. In English class, we use a lot of abstract words. I have seen words I don’t learn in Japan. It makes me realise that I have to study many kinds of words every day. The classes are very hard and make me tired but I enjoy it because I am able to talk with my friends at recess and lunch time without studying. They always listen to story intently and speak slowly and clearly when we are talking. I am asked about Japanese culture many times in a conversation. Among the things we talk about, we talk about anime. I had thought that only NARUTO, DEMON SLAYER and ONE PIECE are popular in foreign countries before I came to Australia but that was wrong. Actually, there are some people who know more about anime than Japanese people. I was also surprised that when they watch anime most of them enjoy not English version of anime but Japanese one. I asked them, “why don’t you usually watch the English version when you can’t understand Japanese.” Everybody answered that the sound did not match with the mouths’ movement. I feel they worry about the sound too much. Sometimes, they are not able to understand what I say even if my pronunciation is a little incorrect. However, if my pronunciation is correct even if the grammar is wrong we can talk. Recently, I noticed importance of sound. After this, I would like to study vocabulary and pronunciation more.
