Last week was Spirit Week, during which students took classes following a different theme each day.
Monday was Anything but a Water Bottle Day. The theme was to bring a container other than a regular water bottle to drink from. I brought a milk bottle. I was surprised by my friends’ creativity, as some brought shampoo bottles and watering cans.
Tuesday was Twin Day. Three of my friends and I matched our hairstyles, black leotards, skirts, and hair accessories. Wearing coordinated outfits gave us a great sense of unity and made me feel excited.
Wednesday was Uniform Swap Day. The theme was to swap uniforms between boys and girls. I wore shorts during class. Many of the boys wore leotards and skirts, while many of the girls wore men’s uniforms and bandanas. Seeing everyone dressed so differently from usual made the classes feel fresh and very entertaining.
Thursday was Pajamas Day. As the name suggests, we wore pajamas during class. I wore my summer pajamas. Watching everyone dance in their pajamas was unusual and very unique.
Friday was Pride Day. The theme was to wear colorful clothing to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Since it was also the last day, all VAB students took class together. I wore a pink leotard and a bracelet that I had made with my friends. Taking class with all of the VAB students gave me a strong sense of unity, and the studio was filled with colorful outfits.
It still doesn’t feel real that my time at VAB has come to an end and that I won’t be able to see my teachers and friends at the VAB studios anymore. As a first-year student, there were many things I didn’t know, but the other VAB students were always kind and welcoming to me. My teachers also taught me not only how to dance but also how to approach dance, and I learned so much from their advice. I am filled with gratitude toward all the teachers and friends who supported me throughout this wonderful year.

最終週は日替わりのテーマに沿ってレッスンを行うスピリットウィークでした。
月曜日はAnything but a Waterbottle Day でした。水筒の代わりに別の物を持参して飲み物を飲むというテーマです。私は牛乳瓶を持参しました。シャンプーのボトルやジョウロを持ってきている友達もいて発想に驚きました。
火曜日はTwin Day でした。友人3人と髪型、黒のレオタードとスカートで合わせお揃いのヘアアクセサリーをつけました。4人の統一感のあるコーデに気分が上がりました。
水曜日はUniform Swap Dayでした。服装を男女で交換する日でした。私はショートパンツを履いてレッスンを受けました。多くの男の子たちがレオタードを着てスカートをはいたり、女の子たちがメンズ用のユニホームを着たりバンダナを身につけていました。普段とは違ったレッスン光景は新鮮でとても面白かったです。
木曜日はPajamasDayでした。名前の通りパジャマを着用してレッスンを受けました。私は夏用のパジャマを着用しました。みんながパジャマで踊ってる一風変わっていてとてもユニークでした。
金曜日はPride Day でした。LGBTOIA+ Pride Monthを祝うためにカラフルな服装をすることがテーマでした。また、最終日のためVAB生徒全員でクラスを受けました。私はピンクのレオタードを着て友達と作ったブレスレットをしました。生徒全員でのレッスンはスクールのまとまりを感じ、またとても色鮮やかでした。
VABのレッスンが終了したことや、先生方と友人とVABのスタジオで会えないことに実感が湧きません。1年目で分からないことが多かった私にVABの生徒はいつも優しく接してくれました。また、先生方からは踊り方や踊りとの向き合い方など様々なアドバイスをいただき沢山の学びを得ました。約1年間お世話になった先生方、友人には感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
