On Saturday, my friend and I went to see the musical Newsies. It was my first time seeing a musical, so I was really excited.
Newsies is a Disney musical based on a real strike by newsboys in New York.
Because of that, many of the main cast members were children.
The style of the songs changed along with the story, with some scenes being bright and uplifting, while others were very emotional. I was really moved by the performance. There were many acrobatic moves and dynamic dances throughout the performance, which made it very exciting to watch. There were also moments when the performers interacted with the audience, which made me feel a strong connection with the stage.
Since coming to Canada, I’ve had the chance to experience forms of art that I had never encountered before, such as contemporary dance, opera, and musicals.
I feel like these experiences have helped enrich my sensitivity and appreciation for the arts.
土曜日に友人とミュージカル「ニュージーズ」を観に行きました。ミュージカルを観るのは初めてだったので楽しみでした。
「ニュージーズ」はニューヨークで実際にあった新聞販売少年たちのストライキを基にした、ディズニーのミュージカル作品です。そのため、子ども達がメインのキャストでした。
ストーリーにそって歌の曲調も変わり、明るく元気がもらえる場面や感動的な場面があり心が動かされました。アクロバットな技やダイナミックなダンスが続き見応えがありました。また、観客に対する演技もあり舞台との一体感を感じることが出来ました。
カナダに来て、コンテンポラリーやオペラ、ミュージカルなど今まで触れたことのない芸術に触れて感性が豊かになった気がします。
