Day 40 :Sunday
Grace and Sara came over today to record our podcast. We had a conversation following a Japanese script. Although I helped a little bit, they wrote almost the entire script themselves, and I was amazed by how good it was! I’ll work hard on my English, so I don’t fall behind.
Day 41 :Monday
I had a test in Japanese class today. The task was to write a letter of about 300 characters to a host family, pretending to be someone planning to study abroad in Japan based on provided information. It felt so strange to write that much Japanese after such a long time! After school, I had my last karate lesson. I had hoped to get a black belt in one month, but I didn’t even make it to a yellow belt, let alone black! Still, I feel like I’ve become stronger.
Day 42 :Tuesday
Today was my last day at Hannah’s house. For our final dinner, they made schnitzel, which is my absolute favorite dish of theirs. It was delicious! Thank you so much for everything.
Day 43 :Wednesday
My host family changed today, and now I’m staying with Hope. Thank you for everything, Hannah! Hope has three sisters: Airlie, Viera, and Gwyneth. They are all such nice and funny girls. I’ve realized this is my last host family already. I’m going to make the most of every day!
Day 44 :Thursday
We had “Harmony Day” at school today. Students from various countries performed their traditional songs and dances. I felt that this is the kind of event that can only happen in a multicultural country like Australia. The Indian dance was the most interesting!
Day 45 :Friday
I watched a movie with my host family at home today. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean. It was really exciting!
Day 46 :Saturday
I went to Sydney with my host father, Gwyneth, and Viera. We did some shopping at Haymarket. Later, we met up with my host mother, Airlie, and Hope to watch the AFC Women’s Asian Cup final: Japan vs. Australia! Of course, my host family was cheering for Australia. Even though I’m Japanese, I pretended to be Australian just for today and cheered for them too. Japan won 1-0. When the Japanese team played a bit rough, the people around us started booing. It was a little awkward for me! But I still had a great time.
40日目(日曜日)
今日は家にグレースとサラが来てポッドキャストの録音をしました。日本語の台本にそって会話をします。台本は一部僕が助けたところもありますが基本は全て彼女らが作っていて、そのできにびっくりしました。僕も負けないように英語を頑張ります。
41日目(月曜日)
今日は日本語の授業でテストがありました。
お題には日本に留学をする予定の人物の情報が書かれていてその情報をもとにその人のつもりでホストファミリー宛に手紙を300文字ぐらいで書くというものでした。久しぶりに日本語をたくさん書いてすごく変な感じでした。
学校の後は最後の空手でした。
１ヶ月で黒帯になろうと思いましたが、黒帯どころか白帯の上の黄帯にすらなれませんでした。
でもなんだか強くなった気がします。
42日目(火曜日)
今日はハナの家が最後の日でした。この家の料理で一番好きなシュニッツェルを最後の日に出してくれました。とってもおいしかったです。ありがとうございました。
43日目(水曜日)
今日からホストが代わりホープになりました。ハナ今までありがとう。
ホープには3人の姉妹がいてエアリーとヴィエラとグイネスです。
みんないい子だし面白いです。
気づけばもう最後のホストファミリーです。
毎日楽しんでいきます。
44日目(木曜日)
今日は学校でハーモニーデイがありました。色々な国の歌やダンスをその国の生徒がしました。多文化なオーストラリアだからこそできるイベントだと思いました。インドのダンスが一番おもしろかったです。
45日目(金曜日)
今日は家でホストと一緒に映画を観ました。パイレーツオブカリビアンを観ました。
とっても面白かったです。
46日目(土曜日)
今日はシドニーにホストファザーとグイネスとヴィエラと行きました。Haymarketで買い物をしました。
その後はホストマザーとエアリーとホープと合流してAFC女子サッカーの決勝、日本VSオーストラリアを見にいきました。ホストはみんなもちろんオーストラリアを応援します。僕は日本人だけど今だけはオーストラリア人だと思っているのでオーストラリアを応援しました。結果は1-0で日本が勝ちました。日本が荒いプレーをした時に周りの人がブーイングをしていました。すこし気まずかったです。
とっても楽しかったです。
