On Friday, I went to see the contemporary dance performance “Belle Spirale Dance Projects” by a Vancouver-based company. It was my first time seeing a contemporary dance performance abroad, so I was really looking forward to it. After competing in a competition the other day, I began to want to open up new possibilities and expand my versatility in contemporary dance. I hoped to find some inspiration by watching this performance. The seats were almost full despite it being a weekday night, which made me feel that there is a high level of interest in contemporary dance.
The performance was a two-part program.
The first piece began with singing and then moved into dance. I was drawn into the performance by the beautiful singing. The fluid and bold movements were impressive. In addition, the music and the visuals on the screen changed along with the dance, enhancing the overall impact.
The second piece was breathtaking, featuring the dancers’ perfectly synchronized movements as well as highly technical solo performances. It was a series of astonishing moments that made me wonder if they were really human. I was truly glad that I had the opportunity to watch this performance.
I would like to apply what I learned from this performance to my future lessons, so that it will contribute, even in a small way, to improving my contemporary dance skills.

On Saturday, I went out to buy a birthday present for my host mother. Because she always wears an apron when she cooks, I decided to look for an apron as a gift. I researched stores that sell aprons in advance and visited three of them. There were many lovely aprons, and it was hard to choose, but I couldn’t find one that really suited my host mother, so I decided to look for a different present.
Then, I visited a gift shop that a friend had previously recommended to me. It was a local shop with a wide selection of handmade items. There, I found a floral pencil case that was perfect for my host mother. I bought the pencil case, some chocolate sweets, and a birthday card. I plan to wrap them and give them to her on her birthday.

金曜日にバンクーバーのカンパニーによるコンテンポラリーダンス「Belle Spirale Dance Projects」を観に行きました。海外で初めて観るコンテンポラリーダンスの公演だったのでとても楽しみでした。先日出場したコンクールを通じて、コンテンポラリーダンスの踊りの幅や可能性を広げたいと感じました。公演を観てそのヒントを見つけたいとおもいました。客席は平日の夜にも関わらずほぼ満席でコンテンポラリーダンスの関心の高さを感じました。
公演は2部構成でした。
最初の演目はダンサーの歌から始まりました。綺麗な歌声によって舞台に引き込まれていきました。滑らかでダイナミックな動きが印象的でした。そして、踊りと共に音楽やスクリーンの映像が変わる工夫が施されておりより迫力を感じられました。
後半の演目は、ダンサーの一糸乱れぬ動き、高度な動きのソロの踊りが圧巻でした。本当に人が踊っているのかと疑いたくなるくらい驚きの連続でした。鑑賞して本当に良かったです。
少しでもコンテンポラリーダンスの上達に繋がるように、公演で学んだことを活かして、今後のレッスンに取り組みたいと思います。

土曜日にホストマザーの誕生日プレゼントを買いに行きました。ホストマザーは料理する際にエプロンを着けているため、エプロンをプレゼントの候補にして探しに行きました。エプロンが販売されているお店を事前に調べて3店舗に寄りました。いろいろな種類の素敵なエプロンがあり迷いましたが、ホストマザーのイメージに合うエプロンはなかったため、別のプレゼントを探すことにしました。以前、友人から教わった雑貨店を訪ねました。その店はローカルショップでハンドメイドの物が多く取り揃えてありました。その中でホストマザーにぴったりな花柄のペンケースがありました。ペンケース、チョコレート菓子、バースデーカードを買いました。ラッピングをして、ホストマザーの誕生日に渡したいと思います。
