On Monday, my host parents, Julia and I went to see the movie “The Polar Express” at an IMAX theater. I watched the movie in Japanese on a streaming service a few days before so that I could better understand the story.
~Synopsis~
The story is about a boy who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, he gets on a huge steam locomotive called the Polar Express. It is an adventurous journey to the North Pole.
I had never seen a movie at an IMAX theater before, so I was really looking forward to it. My host mother bought a large popcorn, and we shared it. It was very good.
The theater had a huge screen, and we wore 3D glasses. In the movie, I felt like snow was falling right in front of me, and I felt as if I were running alongside a train. I was absorbed by the powerful visuals and the development of the story. Time flew by as I was completely drawn into the world of the movie.
I understood the content without English subtitles because I had seen the movie before, so I was able to really enjoy it.
月曜日にホストペアレント、ジュリアちゃんと一緒にIMAXシアターで映画「ポーラー・エクスプレス」を観に行きました。数日前に話の内容を理解するために動画配信で日本語の映画を観て予習をしました。
~あらすじ~
サンタクロースを信じられなくなった少年がクリスマスイブの夜に「ポーラー・エクスプレス」という巨大な蒸気機関車に乗り込み、北極点を目指す冒険の旅を描いた物語です 。
今までIMAXシアターで映画を観たことは無かったのでとても楽しみでした。ホストマザーが大きなポップコーンを買ってくれてみんなでシェアして食べました。カナダのポップコーンも美味しかったです。
シアターは巨大なスクリーンで3Dメガネを着用しました。3Dメガネを着用して観た映画は雪が自分の間近で降ってる感覚や列車と自分自身が一緒に走っている感覚がありました。迫力のある映像と物語の展開に夢中になりました。映画の世界に引き込まれあっという間でした。一度日本語で映画を観たことで英語の字幕がなくても内容の理解に繋がり、映画を楽しむことができました。
