VAB (Victoria Academy of Ballet) lessons began in earnest this week. The ballet class was taught by the Bellis director for three days from Monday to Wednesday. The VAB lessons were based on the Cecchetti Method. I had been taking lessons based on a different method, so by learning the Cecchetti method, I learned new ways to use my body and broadened my dancing style, which was very refreshing. Also, the director carefully taught me the direction and angle of my hands, face, and feet while observing each individual’s dance. My problem was that my arms and wrists tend to be tense, but thanks to her advice, I was able to get a sense of how to relax.
I was able to concentrate on the lesson with a sense of tension more than usual during the precious derector’s lesson. I would like to keep her advice in mind in my daily lessons.

I read the second chapter of “The Norwood Builder” from “Sherlock Holmes” on Monday at language school. The second chapter was exciting as the details of the case were gradually revealed. From Wednesday to Friday, we were given writing assignments in which we had to guess the case by ourselves. First, I wrote my own guess. It was a challenge for me to write about the case in English, but I was able to think about it in my own way. Next, classmates corrected each other’s spelling. My classmates suggested sentences that were easy to understand and I learned a lot from them. My classmates’ guesses were very creative and interesting to read. The teacher commented, “Very creative! I was happy to have my own reasoning praised.

今週からVAB(Victoria Academy of Ballet)のレッスンが本格的に始まりました。バレエクラスは月曜日から水曜日までの3日間、べリスデレクターがレッスンをしてくださりました。VABはチェケッティ・メソッドという指導法に基づいたレッスンが行われています。私は今まで別のメソッドに基づいてレッスンを受けていたため、チェケッティ・メソッドを教えていただくことにより、新しく身体の使い方を学び、踊り方の幅も広がりとても新鮮な気持ちでレッスンを受けることができました。また、デレクターはひとりひとりの踊りを見ながら、手や顔、足の向きや角度を細かく丁寧に教えてくれます。私は手首に力が入りやすいことが課題でしたが、デレクターのアドバイスのおかげで力を抜く感覚を掴めるようになりました。
貴重なデレクターのレッスンはいつも以上に緊張感を持って集中してレッスンに取り組むことができました。日々のレッスンでも、アドバイスを忘れずにレッスンに励みたいです。

語学学校で月曜日に『シャーロックホームズ』の「The Norwood Builder」の第2章を読みました。第2章では事件の内容が少しずつ明かされてワクワクしました。水曜日から金曜日は自分で事件を推理するライティングアサイメントが出されました。まず自分の推理を書きました。事件を推理すること、それを英語で文章にすることどちらもハードルが高かったですが、自分なりに考えることが出来ました。次にクラスメイト同士文法やスペルを直しました。クラスメイトは分かりやすい文章を提案してくれて勉強になります。また、クラスメイトの推理は発想が豊かで読んでいて面白かったです。先生からは｢Very creative!｣とコメントを頂きました。自分なりの推理を褒めてもらえて嬉しかったです。
