I started a class of that language school, “Inlingua Victoria”, in Victoria on Tuesday this week. First, I took a writing and speaking test for leveling. Next, I made a school tour. Then, I joined a reading and writing class. The classmates are of various nationalities and ages, so I was perplexed by the different atmosphere in Japanese school. I was nervous at first, but thanks to the teacher and classmates who welcomed us cheerfully, the tension gradually eased.
While in class, many classmates responded positively to the question from the teacher, so I was stimulated to work on the class.
Regular classes began on Wednesday.
The first period is a grammar class. We learned expressions commonly used by native speakers and words that can be paraphrased. I want to continue to learn as many new paraphrases of words as possible and expand my vocabulary as I deepen my understanding.
The second period is reading/ writing class. This week, we studied chapter1 of the story “The Norwood Builder” from the novel “Sherlock Holmes”. The teacher expressed new words by using his body and objects, explained by taking a familiar example. He also teaches similar words together, making it easier to visualize and understand. There is a lot of time to interact with my classmates. The class has a homey atmosphere.
I want to actively use the expressions and vocabulary I learned at the language school in my daily life. In addition, I want to balance my studies with ballet school by using the time I have between language school and ballet school to secure study time.
