【オーストラリアBDC交換留学ウィークリーレポート⑧】内堀雪花さん
On the last weekend before returning to Japan, my host family took me to Sydney.
We traveled by car, so it took about six hours from Coffs Harbour to Sydney.
Most of the buildings I saw in Sydney were very tall, and when I looked up, I felt like my neck was going to break.
While walking through the city, I encountered an Aboriginal Australian man.
He was performing using a tool called a boomerang.
I found the Indigenous people and their tools very interesting, as I don’t often get to meet them in person.
We also went to the Sydney Tower Eye.
The observation deck is about 250 meters above the ground.
The view from there was amazing, and even the tall buildings looked small from above.
After that, we visited the Sydney Opera House.
On the way there, we could see many ships on the sea.
From that area, we could also see a building that used to be a prison, as well as a warship.
The Opera House itself was much bigger than I had imagined.
There was a light-up event happening from May to June, so we went both during the day and at night.
Even in the daytime, the area was already crowded with people.
At night, not only the Opera House but also the surrounding buildings were beautifully illuminated.
The nighttime view was different from the daytime and even more stunning.
It was wonderful to experience new things and make new discoveries that I had never had before.
There isn’t much time left in my study abroad experience, so I want to treasure each and every day.
帰国前最後の週末にはホストファミリーがシドニーに連れて行ってくれました。車で移動したので、コフスハーバーからシドニーまで6時間ほどかかりました。シドニーで見た建物は高さがある建物がほとんどで、上を見上げると首がもげそうになりそうでした。街を歩いていると，オーストラリアの先住民に出会いました。ブーメランという道具を使ってパフォーマンスをしていました。実際に先住民の人と会うことはあまりないので先住民や道具は興味深いと感じました。そして、Sydney Tower Eyeに行きました。地上から展望デッキまでの高さは約250mだそうです。景色がとても良くて、大きい建物も小さく感じました。その後オペラハウスに行きました。オペラハウスに向かうまでに見える海には沢山の船がありました。実際に見てみると、オペラハウスは想像していたより大きかったです。オペラハウスから見える海には軍艦や、かつて刑務所だった建物が見えました。オペラハウスでは5月から6月にかけてライトアップが開催されていて、私たちはお昼と夜にオペラハウスに行きました。お昼の時間帯からすでに沢山の人で賑わっていました。ライトアップはオペラハウスだけでなく周りにある建物もライトアップされていたのでさらに綺麗な景色を見ることができました。お昼の時とはまた違う景色を見ることができて良かったです。
そして今までにない新しい発見や経験をできてとても良かったです。留学生活も残り少ないので1日1日を大切に過ごしていきたいと思います。
