On Saturday, I went to a café for lunch. I ordered shrimp and tomato pasta. Meals in Australia are generally large in portion, but it was very delicious. After eating, I did a little shopping and went to various beaches. There are so many beach names in Coffs Harbour that it’s hard to remember them all. Still, they are all so beautiful and make me envious.

On Sunday, Lily’s family kindly took me and Yukina to the aquarium. At the aquarium, we watched a dolphin show, took photos, and saw a turtle that had been sick but recovered after receiving rescue care. I also learned that dolphins communicate with ultrasound and that their noses are located on top of their heads.

After that, we went out to eat. I tried fish fry for the first time and also had Lily’s favorite ice cream flavor—birthday cake batter. Usually, I only eat things I’m familiar with when dining out, but this made me realize that I should challenge myself more.

Lately, it’s been raining a lot, and sometimes school gets canceled, but I’m glad it was sunny.

Since last week, I switched my elective subject from design to music. Music is the most free and open class I’ve taken so far, and I get to talk with lots of people. The other day, I didn’t know the classroom had changed, but Priya and Kiara told me that when another group is using the music room, we have class in a different location, and they guided me there. During break time, we walked around the school and talked about Vegemite, camping, and more.

Even though I’m not fluent in English, I feel connected through music in class, which makes it really fun. I hadn’t taken music as an elective since entering high school, so I didn’t know much about it, but I think the music class at BDC is very professional. People freely play whatever instruments they want—guitar, singing, piano, trumpet, and more. I was really surprised at how high the quality of music was, even during free time. Everyone at BDC is much kinder than I expected, and I regret a little that I didn’t start talking to them earlier.


 土曜日、お昼ご飯を食べにカフェに行きました。私はエビとトマトのパスタを頼みました。オーストラリアのご飯はどれも大きくて量は多いですが、とても美味しかったです。ご飯を食べた後、少しお買い物をして、色んな海に行きました。コフスハーバーには沢山の海の名前があって覚えるのが難しいです。また、どこも綺麗で羨ましいです。
日曜日には、Lilyの家族がゆきなも一緒に水族館に連れて行ってくれました。水族館では、イルカショーを見て写真を撮ったり、病気のあった亀が救助を受け、元気になった姿を見ることが出来ました。またイルカは超音波で話し、鼻が頭の上についていることも知れました。
その後、ご飯を食べに行きました。私はそこで初めてフィッシュフライと、Lilyが好きなアイスのbirthday cake batter フレーバーを食べました。私は外食をする時、安定のものしか食べていなかったので、もっと挑戦するべきだと改めて感じました。
最近は雨が多くて学校が休校になったりもしますが、晴れて良かったです。

先週から選択授業をデザインから音楽に変更しました。音楽はこれまで受けてきた授業の中で、一番自由で、色んな人と話すことができます。この間、授業の場所が変わったことを知らずにいると、priyaとKiaraがミュージックルームを他のグループが使っているときは、違う場所で授業をすると教えてくれて案内してくれました。また、休憩時間にはみんなでベジマイトやキャンプのことなど、校内を散歩しながら話すことができました。音楽の授業では、英語が上手くない私でも音楽で繋がることが出来るため、すごく楽しいです。私は高校に入ってから、選択で音楽をとっていなかったので詳しくは分かりませんが、BDCでの音楽はすごく本格的だと思いました。ギターや歌、ピアノやトランペットなど自分のやりたい楽器を自由に行っていました。その自由時間にやる音楽のクオリティがみんな本当に高くてびっくりしました。BDCのみんなは私が思っていた以上に優しくて、もっと初めから話せば良かったと少し後悔しました。
