It’s been five days since I arrived in Australia. At first, I was pretty worried about a lot of things. But they’re really kind, so now I feel comfortable and at ease.
Living here has been full of surprises and every day feels so different. On the first day, right after I arrived, I went to the beach and had lunch and ice cream. I heard the ice cream here is famous, and it was super crowded.
On days two and three, I went to a market. I was really happy to get earrings and spicy beef as gifts on the second day.
In the evening, we made hamburgers for a BBQ. My host family doesn’t usually eat much meat, but since they knew I liked it, they made lots of dishes like meat pies and steaks. Everything was so delicious!
On the fourth day, for lunch, I went to a sushi restaurant with Lily’s dad. He’s a vegetarian, so he was eating avocado and cheese sushi. It was really tasty! Also, there was a Japanese person at the sushi place, and I was so happy to speak Japanese again after a long time.
When I got back home, Lily’s parents explained about the garden. Lily’s dad works with trees, and he’s planted over 400 of them! The garden has lots of plants like wasabi, ginger, and coffee beans.
Did you know that coffee beans aren’t originally black? I just found out, and I thought that was pretty funny.
Every evening, Lily and I study together. During the day, I write down new English words and phrases I learn or hear in conversations on LINE in Japanese. Then in the evening, I look them up, and if I can’t get the pronunciation right, I ask Lily to help me. I’m really grateful for this because when I hear those words in the next chat, I will understand them better, and it’s a lot of fun!
Lily’s family is so kind, and I really love them!

オーストラリアに到着してから5日が経ちました。私は初め、色んなことが不安でした。でも、彼らは本当に親切なので今では安心して生活することが出来ています。
オーストラリアに来てからの生活は、どれも非日常で驚きが沢山あります。1日目は会った後すぐに海岸に行き、ランチとアイスクリームを食べました。ここのアイスクリームは有名だそうで、とても混んでいました。2.3日目はマーケットに行きました。2日目にイヤリングと辛いビーフを買って貰えてとても嬉しかったです。
夜はBBQでハンバーガーを作りました。私のホストファミリーはいつもお肉をあまり食べないそうですが、私がお肉を好きなことを知ってミートパイやステーキなど沢山作ってくれます。どれもとても美味しいです！4日目はお昼に、Lilyのお父さんと一緒にお寿司屋さんに行きました。彼はベジタリアンなのでアボカドとチーズのお寿司を食べていました。とても美味しかったです！また、お寿司屋さんには日本人がいて、久しぶりに日本語を話せて嬉しかったです。
家に帰ったらLilyのお父さんとお母さんが、家の庭についての説明をしてくれました。リリーのお父さんは、木に関わる仕事をしていて、庭に400本以上の木を植えたそうです！庭にはワサビや生姜・コーヒー豆といった、沢山の植物が植えてありました。
皆さんはコーヒー豆が最初は黒くないことを知っていますか？私は初めて知りました笑
いつも夕方と夜は、Lilyと2人で勉強をします。私は朝・昼と、教えてもらった英語や、会話の中にある分からない英語をLINEのキープメモに日本語でかき、それを夕方に調べ、聞き取れないものは発音を教えて貰っています。それが本当にありがたくて、次の日の会話の中にその単語があると、より理解ができるのでとても楽しいです！
Lilyの家族は本当に優しくて私はこの家族が大好きです‼️‼️
