学校：Central Coast Grammar School（オーストラリア）

I joined a basketball practice on the first Friday. Luckily, they thought I was really good, so they let me join the first division team straight way. I went to Sydney for a basketball game on the next day. I made lots of friends through basketball. I felt that the way of playing in Japan and Australia is completely different, because in Australia is more 1v1, while in Japan, it’s more about passing. I’m glad I got to learn about those differences.

On Sunday my host brother took me to Sydney for sightseeing. At first, I went to a shopping mall and then I went to the Opera house, Harbour bridge and Sydney tower. It was so fun to spend time with my host brother. We talked about our family, school life and our interest.

My host family is originally from India. I enjoyed home made curry for a week.  Australia is multicultural country. CCGS has many students from different cultural backgrounds, so my current host family is Sean sensei’s family. His mother is from Japan and his father is from England. So, I feel at home and I am enjoying Japanese food before I move to Australian host family next week. I feel lucky to experience so many different cultures while I’m in Australia. I’m looking forward to finding out what cultural background my next host family will have.

僕は最初の金曜日にバスケットボールの練習に参加しました。

運よく、チームの人たちは私のプレーを高く評価してくれて、すぐに1部チームに入れてくれました。次の日に、バスケットボールの試合のためにシドニーへ行きました。バスケットボールを通じてたくさんの友達ができました。

日本とオーストラリアではプレースタイルが全く違うと感じました。オーストラリアでは1対1のプレーが多いのに対し、日本ではよりパスを重視したバスケットボールをします。そうした違いを知ることができてよかったです。

日曜日には、ホストブラザーがシドニー観光に連れて行ってくれました。

最初にショッピングモールへ行き、それからオペラハウス、ハーバーブリッジ、シドニータワーを訪れました。ホストブラザーと一緒に過ごす時間はとても楽しかったです。私たちは家族や学校生活、興味のあることについて話しました。

私の最初のホストファミリーはインド出身でした。1週間、自家製のカレーを楽しみました。オーストラリアは多文化の国であり、CCGSにはさまざまな文化的背景を持つ生徒がいます。そして、現在のホストファミリーは西高のALTのショーン先生のご家族です。彼のお母さんは日本出身、お父さんはイギリス出身なので、とても居心地がよく、日本食を楽しんでいます。来週、オーストラリア人のホストファミリーに移る予定ですが、こうしてさまざまな文化を体験できるのはとても幸運なことだと感じています。

次のホストファミリーがどのような文化的背景を持っているのか、とても楽しみです。
