One week from last Wednesday, fourteen students from Japan participated in the spring training program at VAB.
We took classes together and performed pieces that will be danced in the performance.
On Sunday, I accompanied a group tour of the students along with two senior students. First, we went to a ballet shop, and then we visited souvenir shops downtown. The shops had a variety of Canadian goods, clothing, and specialty items such as maple syrup and maple cookies. All of the students looked like they were enjoying choosing souvenirs for their families, friends, and themselves.　Next, we visited one of Victoria’s famous tourist attractions, the Legislative Assembly. Unfortunately, it was rainy and windy, so I felt very cold. Everyone quickly took photos in ballet poses and group pictures in the rain.
Finally, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant. While we were waiting for our dishes, I talked with the students about their hometowns and studying abroad. It made me very happy. For my main dish, I ordered manicotti, which was my first time trying it. It was very delicious, with a rich and creamy cheese filling combined with the tangy tomato sauce.
Although it was a short time of just one week, I was able to make wonderful memories spending time together.

先週の水曜日から1週間、日本から14名がVABの春期留学プログラムに参加しました。一緒にクラスを受けたり、パフォーマンスで踊る作品を披露したりしました。日曜日には生徒さんのグループ観光に先輩2名と一緒に付き添いをしました。まずはバレエショップに行き、その後ダウンタウンのお土産ショップに行きました。お土産ショップにはカナダの置き物や洋服、名物のメープルシロップ・メープルクッキーなどが並んでいました。みんな自分や家族、友達などのお土産を楽しそうに選んでいました。次にビクトリアの観光地の一つである州議事堂を訪れました。あいにくの雨と風でとても寒かったです。みんな雨の中急いでバレエのポーズやグループで写真を撮っていました。最後はイタリアン料理レストランで夕食をいただきました。料理を待っている間に生徒さんとお話しをしました。出身地や留学についてなど色々なことをお話しできて楽しかったです。私はメイン料理にマニコッティ(太い棒状のパスタの中にほうれん草やチーズ、挽肉を詰め、トマトソースをかけてオープンで焼いた料理) を選びました。初めて食べる料理でしたが、濃厚でクリーミーなチーズとトマトソースの酸味が合わさりとても美味しかったです。
1週間という短い期間でしたが、一緒に過ごすことができて良い思い出が作れました。
