Day 41
I moved to my friend Ben’s house. When I arrived and opened the front door, three dogs came to greet me. At Ben’s house, they have three dogs, two cats, two parrots, and even chickens. After a while, I played basketball with Ben and his younger brother, Will. While we were playing, their neighbor James came over. He is very friendly and a bit crazy in a funny way. After playing outside, we all played Mario Kart together. It was really fun. For dinner, we had chicken, and after that, we watched a Disney movie called Hercules. I was happy because I was able to understand most of it.

Day 42
We all went to the sea and caught fish. It was the sea, but it felt more like a lake. The tide went out, so we were able to walk. Every step made our feet sink, so it was quite hard to walk. While we were walking, my friend James, who lives next door, caught a fish. It looked like a pufferfish, but apparently it wasn’t. After that, we caught about ten fish and also some crabs. Then we all went into the spa and the pool. The spa felt like a bath. We played together in the pool, and it was really fun.

Day 43
I went to eat dumplings with my host family and Ben’s relatives. I heard that Ben’s grandfather is Spanish. We ate many different kinds of dumplings there. Some of them were types I’ve never seen in Japan, which was interesting, and they were all delicious.

Day 44
We left the house at 6 a.m. and drove for five hours to a farm deep in the mountains. On the way, we saw wild kangaroos. When we arrived, there were many cows and sheep. At the farm, I fed cows and drove a small tractor. The steering wheel was really light, so it was a bit hard to control, haha. While we were taking a break after finishing all the work, Ben said he saw a big poisonous snake. His dad looked for it, but couldn’t find it. There were also large poisonous spiders. On the way to the farm, we stopped at a café and ate a sausage roll, a meat pie, and an apple pie. They were all really delicious. The scenery on the way back was very beautiful and kind of reminded me of America, haha. After getting home, I watched games of the Central Coast Mariners and the Wests Tigers. Both were good games, but they lost, so I hope they win next time.

Day 45
I went to an outdoor shop called Anaconda to buy camping gear. They had everything from camping equipment to fishing gear. After that, we stopped by a café near the house and bought burgers before going home. The burgers were really delicious. Then I played in the pool with my friend James, Ben, and Ben’s younger brother. James covered himself with tattoo stickers, which was really funny.

Day 46
In PE class, we played various sports like basketball, soccer, and netball. All of them were fun, and I was happy that I could talk with many different people. Also, I was surprised that Tom was good at every sport.

Day 47
In sports class, we played a sport called Tchoukball. It’s a game where you throw a ball, about the size of a handball, at a trampoline-like net, and if the other team fails to catch the rebounding ball, you score a point. It felt like a mix of handball, soccer, and basketball. It was actually really fun when I tried it. I was able to communicate a lot with everyone, and I also talked a lot with my friend Daniel while changing, which was nice. After going home, I played in the pool, had pizza for dinner, and watched a movie called Top Gun. The visuals were really cool, the music was great, and the story was very exciting.

 

41日目、友達のベンの家に引っ越しをしました。ベンの家について玄関を開けると3匹の犬が出迎えてくれました。ベンの家は犬3匹、猫2匹、そしてインコ2匹と鶏がいます。しばらくしてベンとベンの弟ウィルとバスケをして遊びました。遊んでいる途中にベンの隣の家のジェームスが遊びに来ました。彼はとてもフレンドリーでいい意味でイカれています。外で遊んだ後はみんなでマリオカートをしました。とても楽しかったです。夜ご飯にはチキンを食べてその後はヘラクレスというディズニーの映画を見ました。内容を全体的に理解することができたので良かったです。

42日目　みんなで海に行って魚を捕まえました。海なんですが湖みたいな感じです。潮が引いていって歩くことができました。歩くたびに足が沈んでいって結構歩くのが大変でした。歩いている時に隣に住んでいる友達のジェームスが魚を捕まえました。フグみたいな見た目をしていたけれど、フグではないそうです。その後も魚を10匹くらい捕まえてカニも捕まえました。そのあとはみんなでスパとプールに入りました。スパはお風呂みたいな感じでした。プールではみんなで遊んだりしました。とても楽しかったです。

43日目　ホストファミリーとベンの親戚と餃子を食べに行きました。ベンのおじいちゃんはスペイン人だそうです。そこではいろいろな種類の餃子を食べました。日本ではないような種類の餃子もあって面白かったし美味しかったです。

44日目　朝6時に家を出て5時間かけて山奥にある牧場に行きました。牧場に行く時に野生のカンガルーがいました。牧場に着くと牛や羊がたくさんいました。牧場では牛に餌をあげたり、小さなトラクターを運転したりしました。ハンドルがめちゃめちゃ軽かったので少し運転しづらかったです笑。作業が全て終わって休憩している時にベンが大きな毒蛇を見たと言っていました。その後はお父さんが探していたけれど見つかりませんでした。大きな毒蜘蛛もいました。牧場に行く途中にあるカフェでソーセージロール、ミートパイ、アップルパイを食べました。どれもすごく美味しかったです。帰る時の道から見る風景はとても綺麗でアメリカみたいな感じがしました笑。家に帰った後はセントラルコーストマリナーズ、ウェストタイガーズの試合を見ました。どちらもいい試合だったのですが負けてしまったので次は勝って欲しいです。

45日目　アナコンダというアウトドアショップにキャンプ用品を買いに行きました。そこにはキャンプ用品から釣りの道具までいろいろなものがありました。キャンプ用品を買った後は家の近くのカフェに寄ってハンバーガーを買って家に帰りました。ハンバーガーはめちゃめちゃ美味しかったです。その後は友達のジェームスとベン、ベンの弟とプールで遊びました。ジェームスがタトゥーシールを身体中に貼ってきてとても面白かったです。

46日目　体育の授業でいろいろなスポーツをやりました。バスケやサッカー、ネットボールをやりました。どのスポーツも楽しかったし、いろいろな人と話すことができたので良かったです。それとトムがどのスポーツも上手でびっくりしました。

47日目　スポーツの授業でチュックボールというスポーツをしました。トランポリンみたいなゴールにハンドボールくらいのサイズのボールをゴールに投げて跳ね返ったボールを相手が取れなければ得点になると言ったげのスポーツです。ハンドボール、サッカー、バスケを組み合わせたみたいなスポーツでした。やってみるとなかなか面白かったです。みんなとたくさんコミュニケーションを取れたし、着替えの時に友達のダニエルとたくさん話せたので良かったです。家に帰った後はプールで遊んで、夜ご飯にピザを食べて、トップガンという映画を見ました。映像がとてもよかったし音楽もよかったしとても面白いストーリーでした。
