Day 33 :Sunday
Sara and Kaede came over to the house today, and we worked on a podcast assignment for their Japanese class. It was really difficult to explain the “Te-form” of Japanese verbs! In the evening, I played a board game called Ticket to Ride with Hannah. The rules were a hard, but I had a great time.
Day 34 :Monday
The short-term study abroad group arrived at CCGS today. I was so happy to see Ms. Hiroe and my friends again. We had a BBQ together in the afternoon, and it was a lot of fun.
Day 35 :Tuesday
After school, I went to Terrigal Beach with my host family. I’ve been to Umina and Forresters Beach before, but I felt like Terrigal had the most beautiful scenery. The view looking down at the beach from the lookout was so pretty. I’d love to go back.
Day 36 :Wednesday
I went to the Reptile Park again with the short-term group. Even though I’ve been there before, there were animals like kangaroos that I didn’t get to see last time, so it was still very exciting! I fed kangaroos and cassowaries, and did a grass whistle. I even washed my hands by rubbing some leaves together to make bubbles, which is like a natural soap. It was a great experience.
Day 37 :Thursday
During 3rd period, I played a board game called Guess Who? with Kaede and Yuko. It’s a one-on-one game where you pick a character and try to guess the other person’s character by asking questions in English. It was really fun, and I want to play it again.
Day 38 :Friday
Since it was the last day for the short-term group, we had a party during Japanese class. We ate Australian snacks and cakes. I’m sad to see them go, and Sofia was sad too. I’ll do my best for my remaining month here!
After I got home, I tried to eat a banana that I had forgotten to eat during lunch, but I accidentally dropped it. I tried to pick it up right away, but Ella beat me to it and ate it! My host family laughed so much.
Day 39 :Saturday
I went to see a soccer match, Mariners vs Adelaide, with my host father, Hannah and Kaede. I’ve only ever seen soccer matches at Uedanishi high School, so I don’t know much about the sport, but it was fascinating to see the people reactions. They were so expressive—getting visibly depressed when a goal was conceded or booing at unfair fouls! It was quite different from Japan.
Kaito Taniguchi, a Japanese player, plays for the Mariners. I got his autograph and a photo after the match! He joined the Australian team in January and is playing professionally while learning English. It was such an interesting experience. After that , we went to the host family’s favorite restaurant and I had the garlic cheese toast again. It was delicious!
33日目(日曜日)
今日は家にサラとかえでが来て日本語の授業で課題になっているポッドキャストをしました。Te-form を教えるのがとっても難しかったです。
夜はハナと一緒にチケット・トゥ・ライドというボートゲームをしました。ルールの理解が難しかったけど楽しかったです。
34日目(月曜日)
今日は短期の人たちがCCGSに来ました。久しぶりにひろえ先生や友達と会えて嬉しかったです。午後はみんなでBBQをしました。楽しかったです。
35日目(火曜日)
学校が終わった後にホストファミリー達とテリガルビーチに行きました。今までユマイナやフォレスタスのビーチに行きましたが、テリガルが1番景色が綺麗だと感じました。高台のような場所がありそこから見下ろすテリガルビーチはとっても綺麗でした。また行きたいです。
36日目(水曜日)
今日は短期のみんなとレプタイルパークに行きました。以前にもレプタイルパークに行きましたが、その時にはいなかったカンガルーなどの見れなかった動物もいたので2回目でもとっても楽しかったです。
カンガルーやヒクイドリに餌を上げたり、草笛をしたり、草を擦って作った泡で手を洗ったりしました。
色々な経験が出来て楽しかったです。
37日目(木曜日)
3時間目の時間にかえでとゆこと一緒にGuess who?というボードゲームをしました。このゲームは1体1のゲームで決められた人物のなかからお互いに1人を選び、相手の選んだ人物を英語で質問しながら当てるというゲームです。とても楽しかったのでまたやりたいです。
38日目(金曜日)
今日は短期の人達が最後ということで日本語の授業の時にパーティをしました。オーストラリアのお菓子やケーキなどを食べました。短期の人がいなくなるのは悲しいです。ソフィアは凄く悲しんでいました。あと1ヶ月頑張ります家に帰ったあと、お昼の時に食べ忘れたバナナを食べようとしたら間違えて落としてしまい直ぐに拾おうとしたらエラに食べられちゃいました。
ホストファミリーにたくさん笑われました。
39日目(土曜日)
今日はホストファザーとハナとかえでと一緒にMariners VS Adelaideのサッカーの試合を見に行きました。僕は西高のサッカーしか生で見たことないのでサッカーのことはよくわかりませんが、点が入ってしまったときにあからさまに落ち込んだり、ありえないだろ！って感じのファールの時にブーイングをしたりと反応が日本と違って面白かったです。
Marinersには日本人の谷口海斗選手がいて試合が終わった後にサインと写真を撮りました。谷口選手は一月からオーストラリアのチームに入り、英語を学びながらプロのサッカー選手をしているそうです。とっても面白かったです。
その後はみんなでご飯を食べに行きました。ホストファミリー行きつけのレストランです。またチーズガーリックトーストを食べました。とっても美味しかったです。また行きたいです。
