【カナダ バレエ留学 ウィークリーレポート㉖】尾䑓愛桜さん
There was a lot of delicious food on the table, such as smoked salmon, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches that her daughter made, as well as sausage pie and spinach quiche. We enjoyed tea with homemade dishes and snacks. The homemade food felt warm and comforting, with flavors that never got boring.We had great conversations while enjoying the delicious light refreshments.
After afternoon tea, we each gave the presents we had prepared to my host mother. I was a little nervous about whether she would like my gift, but I felt relieved when she said, “It’s so pretty! Thank you so much!” Seeing her happily receive the present I had chosen with care made me feel very happy as well. Her daughter and grandchildren gave her chocolate and a jigsaw puzzle as their gifts.
Then, we sang the birthday song to celebrate and enjoyed cake together.
The cake had a sour cream filling between the sponge layers and was topped with white chocolate curls. The balance between the light sourness of the sour cream and the sweetness of the white chocolate was perfect, and it was very delicious.
After that, I played tic-tac-toe and UNO with the grandchildren. I won one game and lost two games of UNO. It was my first time playing tic-tac-toe. The grandchildren knew the rules well and were more experienced than I was. At first, I kept losing, but they gave me tips and advice on how to win.
By keeping those in mind while playing, I gradually started to win more games.
Before playing, I thought it would be easy, but it was more challenging and strategic than I expected, which made it very interesting. Through the games, I was able to naturally interact with the grandchildren, and we had a really enjoyable time.
土曜日にホストマザーの誕生日パーティーをしました。午後から娘さんと2人の孫、ホストファザーの姉夫妻が来て、アフタヌーンティーでお祝いをしました。娘さん手作りのスモークサーモンときゅうり、クリームチーズのサンドイッチやホストファザーのお姉さん手作りのソーセージパイ、ほうれん草のキッシュなど美味しそうな食べ物がテーブルに並べられていました。手作り料理やスナックと一緒に紅茶を頂きました。手作り料理は温かみがあり飽きのこない味わいでした。美味しい軽食と共に会話も弾みました。
アフタヌーンティーの後、それぞれで用意をしたプレゼントをホストマザーに渡しました。ホストマザーが喜んでくれるかドキドキしましたが、 It’s so pretty! Thank you so much!と言ってくれてホッとしました。心を込めて選んだプレゼントを嬉しそうに受け取ってもらい、私も嬉しい気持ちになりました。娘さんとお孫さんたちはチョコレートとジグソーパズルをプレゼントしていました。
そして、バースデーソングを歌いお祝いをして、みんなでケーキを食べました。ケーキはスポンジの間にサワークリームのペーストが入っており、上にはホワイトチョコレートカールがのっていました。サワークリームのほのかな酸味とホワイトチョコレートの甘さのバランスが良くとても美味しかったです。
その後、お孫さんと三目並べとUNOをして遊びました。UNOは１勝2敗でした。三目並べは初めてやりました。お孫さんの方がゲームのルールを知っていて、慣れていました。私は始めは負けてばかりでしたが、お孫さんが勝つためのヒントやアドバイスをくれたので、それを参考にしながらゲームをしていくと、少しずつ勝てるようになりました。始めるまでは簡単だと思っていましたが、想像以上に頭を使ったり、コツがいるゲームで面白かったです。ゲームを通じて自然とお孫さんと交流が持てて楽しい時間でした。
