Day 58, Wednesday
I went to the Shrine of Remembrance. It is a war memorial. Inside, there were many things on display, such as military uniforms and statues. I could learn about the war from other countries’ points of view, which is not talked about much in Japan.
As I went further, there was a place that looked like a grave. It was very large, quiet, and had a sacred feeling. Later, I found out that it was a grave to honor many unknown soldiers. After that, I went to the beach. It was not sunny, so I could not see far, and the wind was very strong. After going to the beach, I ate ramen and went home.
Day 59, Thursday
I went to Carlton Gardens. It was a little far from the city center. It looked like a castle and was very beautiful. There were fountains and gardens, so it was a great place to visit. After that, I went to the Old Treasury Building. Inside, it was a museum, and I learned about the history of buildings and daily life in Melbourne. I heard that there is an old vault in the basement. Then, I went to a nearby church. The inside was very beautiful and I felt there magical. I do not often go inside churches, so I was glad to see it.
Day 60, Friday
I went to souvenir shops and Kmart to buy souvenirs. At the souvenir shops, there were many Australian-style items. There were kangaroo and koala souvenirs, and they were interesting. I bought a kangaroo key holder for my friend. At Kmart, I bought snacks for my class, ECC, and my family. After shopping, I went to the library and rested for a while.
Day 61, Saturday
I went to Hosier Lane. It is famous for its walls covered with art. There were more paintings than I expected, and it was amazing. I think there are not many places like this in Japan. After that, I went to Queen Victoria Market. It was similar to a Japanese market, and they sold seafood and bread. I was very surprised to see kangaroo jerky. I felt it very Australian.
Day 62, Sunday
We all went go-karting. I have done go-karting in Japan before, so I was very excited. I thought the course might be difficult because it was my first time, but I drove well. After go-karting, we ate sushi for lunch, went to the airport, and took a plane home. During this study abroad, I think I had more difficult times than fun times. However, I believe these experiences will be useful in the future. I am very thankful to everyone who supported my study abroad.
58 日目、水曜日。Shrine of Remembrance に行きました。そこは戦争の慰霊館でした。中には色々なものが展示してありました。軍服や銅像が展示されていました。日本ではあまり触れられない海外の国から見た戦争を知ることができました。奥に行くとお墓みたいなのがありました。とても広く、静かで神聖な空気が漂っていました。あとで調べてみると名前のわからない多くの兵士を追悼するためのお墓だったそうです。その後はビーチに行きました。晴れていなかったので遠くまでは見えなくてただただ風が強かったです。ビーチに行った後はラーメンを食べて家に帰りました。
59 日目、木曜日。カールトン庭園に行きました。中心街からは少し外れたところにありました。行ってみるとお城みたいですごく綺麗でした。噴水や庭園もあり訪れるにはとてもいい場所でした。その後はオールド•トレジャリー•ビルディングに行きました。中は博物館になっていてメルボルンの建物や暮らしの歴史を知ることができました。地下には昔の金庫があるそうです。その後は近くにあった教会に行きました。中に入ってみると造りがすごく綺麗で幻想的でした。教会にもなかなか入る機会がなかったので中を見ることができてよかったです。
60 日目、金曜日。お土産を買いに雑貨屋さんやKマートに行きました。雑貨屋さんではオーストラリアならではのお土産がたくさんありました。カンガルーやコアラなどのお土産があって面白かったです。友達にはカンガルーのキーホルダーを買いました。K マートではクラスとECC、家族へのお土産にお菓子を買いました。買い物の後は図書館に行き少し休みました。
61 日目、土曜日。Hosier Lane に行きました。そこには壁にたくさんの絵が書いてある通りで有名な場所です。行ってみると思っていた以上に壁に絵が書いてあってすごかったです。日本にはこういった場所はあまりないと思います。その後はクイーンヴィクトリアマーケットに行きました。そこは日本の市場に似ていて海産物やパンなどが売っていました。一番びっくりしたのはカンガルージャーキーが売っていました。オーストラリアらしくていいなと思いました。
62 日目、日曜日。みんなでカートで走りにいきました。自分は日本でカートをやったことがあるのでとてもワクワクしていました。初めてのコースだから難しいのかなと思っていたけれど上手に走れました。カートで走った後はお昼ご飯に寿司を食べて空港に向かい飛行機に乗って帰りました。今回の留学では楽しいことよりも大変なことが多かったと思います。でも、これらの経験は将来絶対活きるはずだと思っています。留学をサポートしてくれたたくさんの人に感謝しています。
