I was talking with Daisy’s friend Kate on Monday about what happened over the weekend. At the time, I intended to say “I bought a big snack,” but she understood it as “I bought a big snake.” The misunderstanding was cleared up, but it still sounded like I bought a big snake. I realized that if my pronunciation isn’t correct, it can be misunderstood, so I should be more careful with how I pronounce words. And this day was the birthday of Lily, Daisy’s childhood friend Kayla older sister, so they went out to eat. And it was Lily’s birthday. she is Kayla’s old sister, and Kayla is Daisy’s childhood friend, so we all went to eat. Kayla was there, along with three siblings who also attend BDC. There, we were able to talk about each other’s hobbies and school life, and it helped us get to know each other better. They also talked about Japan, as they have both been there. When I asked what their favorite Japanese food was, ramen was the most popular. They also said they were impressed by Japanese toilets. I’ve often heard that people from other countries are impressed by Japanese toilets, so I was a little happy to hear it from them in person. And Lily is active in music under the name Lily Hallawell. Her music has beautiful harmonies and vocals. If you look her up on Spotify and other platforms, you can find her songs, so please give them a listen.
Daisy’s little brother Ace introduces me to his friends when he hangs out with them. So recently, Ace’s friends and lots of other people have been saying hi to me when they see me, and that makes me really happy. For dinner on Thursday, my host father made homemade Japanese ramen for us. I was surprised that it could be recreated using seasonings available in Australia but It was very delicious. On Friday, Daniel, an exchange student, took me and the other exchange students to an Italian restaurant for dinner. It was the second time he had taken us out to dinner.
The food was so delicious that I wanted to post a pictures, but I forgot to take any.
I’ll be returning to Japan in two weeks, but during that time, we’re planning to have two more meals together, so I’m really looking forward to it. On Sunday, Lily’s family took Nao and me on a boat ride.
It had been a while since I last went on a boat, and the waves were rougher than any I had experienced before, so I got seasick for the first time,but I still had a great time. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t see any whales or dolphins,
but I was able to learn about the islands we passed along the way.
Afterwards, we went to the aquarium and had the great experience of interacting with sea creatures that we don’t normally get to see. I am also very grateful to Lily’s family for taking me to many different places so frequently.

月曜日にデイジーの友達のKateと週末にあったことを話していました。その時に私が”I bought a big snack.”と言ったつもりが彼女には”I bought a big snake.”と伝わってしまいました。誤解は解けましたが、大きいヘビを買ったことになってしまいました。発音が正しくないと違う伝わり方をしてしまう場合があるのでより発音に気をつけようと思いました。そして、この日はデイジーの幼なじみのKaylaの姉のLilyの誕生日だったので外食をしました。そこにはKaylaもいて 他にBDCに通っている3姉弟もいました。そこではお互いの趣味や学校のことなど話せて仲を深める事が出来ました。彼らは両方日本に行ったことがあるので、日本の話もしました。日本の好きな食べ物を聞くとラーメンが人気でした。また、日本のトイレに感動したと話していました。海外の人が日本のトイレに感動するという話はよく聞くので、実際に聞けて少し嬉しかったです。そして、LilyはLily Hallawellという名前で音楽活動をしています。彼女の音楽はハーモニーや歌声がとても綺麗です。Spotifyなどで調べるとでてくるので是非調べてみてください。
そして、デイジーの弟のAceは、彼の友達と会った時その友達を紹介してくれます。なので最近ではAceの友達や色んな人が私を見かけたら話しかけてくれるのでとても嬉しいです。木曜日のディナーにホストファザーが日本のラーメンを手作りしてくれました。オーストラリアにある調味料でも再現出来ることに驚きました。とても美味しかったです。
金曜日には交換留学生のダニエルが留学生をつれてディナーにイタリア料理店に連れて行ってくれました。ディナーに連れて行ってくれたのは2回目でした。料理がとても美味しかったので、写真を載せたかったですが、写真に納めるのを忘れていました。あと2週間で日本に帰国しますが、その2週間の中であと2回みんなで食事ができる予定なのでとても楽しみです。日曜日には、Lilyの家族がナオと私を乗船に連れて行ってくれました。船に乗るのは久しぶりで、今まで乗った船の中で1番波が荒かったので、初めて船酔いをしてしまいましたがとても楽しかったです。クジラやイルカを見ることが出来なかったのは少し残念でしたが途中で見える島などについて知ることが出来ました。その後、水族館にいき普段見ることの出来ない海の生き物と触れ合えることが出来ていい経験になりました。そして、高い頻度で色んなところに連れて行ってくれるリリーの家族にとても感謝しています。
