私は日本でさくらさんをホストしていました。
先週末は、彼女のお家にホームステイに行きました。彼女の家族は、まるで私を本当の子どものように扱ってくれました。そして、私がずっと行ってみたかった海水浴に連れて行ってもらいました。日本とは全く違う海岸で、サイコーの朝（Good morning）を迎えました。笑

また彼らは、私のためにオーストラリアの文化をたくさん教えてくれました。私はオーストラリアで有名なベジマイトを初めて食べました。好き嫌いが分かれる食べ物らしいです。私的には…でした。笑

この数日はとても充実していました。私に新しい経験をたくさんさせてくれたさくらさんと、ご家族にとても感謝しています。彼女は、日本でもオーストラリアでも私に素敵な経験をさせてくれました。そして彼女が日本にいた時よりも英語での会話がスムーズにできるようになり、とてもうれしく思いました。

この週末で私は、英語の勉強への意識が変化しました。日本では教科として英語を学んでいます。なので、英語をたくさん勉強すればそれだけ高い点数を得ることができます。しかし、それでは目的が明確ではありません。何のために英語を勉強しているのか？それは、出会いの場を広げるため。これが私の答えです。私は今までも沢山の素敵な方々に出会いました。それはこれからもきっとあるはずです。生まれた環境や価値観が異なった人たちと出会って、さらに自分の視野を広げていきたいと思いました。そのために、私はこれからも英語の学習を続けていきたいです。

I was hosting Sakura in Japan. Last weekend, I went to her house for a homestay. Her family treated me like a real child of their own. And they took me to the beach I had always wanted to go to. We had a good morning on a beach completely different from Japan. (lol)

Also, they taught me a lot of things about Australian culture. For the first time, I ate “VEGEMITE”. It seems that there are different likes and dislikes. For me, that’s…(lol)

The last few days have been very fulfilling. I am very grateful to Sakura and her family for giving me a new experience. She gave me a wonderful experience both in Japan and in Australia. And, I was very happy to be able to have a smoother conversation in English than when she was in Japan.

This weekend, I changed my mind about studying English. In Japan, we are studying English as a subject. So if we study English a lot, we can get high scores. However, the purpose is not clear. What are we studying English for? It’s to expand the place where we can meet people. This is my answer. I have met many wonderful people up until now. I’m sure there will be more of that in the future. I want to expand my horizons by meeting people born in various places and who have different values. So, I want to continue learning English.
